The Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle (model 5816) is the classic: a blued alloy steel action in a warm hardwood stock, chambered in 5.56 NATO and feeding from 20-round magazines. It has been a go-to ranch, truck and farm rifle for decades because it is compact, handles well and just keeps running.

At its heart is a simple, rugged Garand-style action with a breech bolt locking system, a fixed-piston gas system and a self-cleaning moving gas cylinder, built for reliable function in dirt, dust and bad weather. The 18.5″ cold hammer-forged barrel has a 1:9″ twist with 6 grooves for consistent accuracy and long service life.

For iron sights you get a ghost ring rear aperture and a non-glare protected blade front. If you want glass, the solid steel receiver has integral scope mounts machined right into it for the included scope rings, and it is drilled and tapped for the included Picatinny rail. A Garand-style safety sits in the front of the trigger guard. Length of pull is 13.5″, and the rifle weighs about 7 pounds. It ships with two 20-round magazines.
