Springfield Armory M1A SOCOM 16 .308 / 7.62 NATO Rifle, 16.25″ Black Composite
Springfield Armory introduced the SOCOM 16 in 2004 to put real .30-caliber power into a rifle short and quick enough for close work. It is built on the M1A platform, so you get the familiar M14-style operating system and handling in a package that measures just 37.25″ overall.
The 16.25″ six-groove carbon steel barrel has a 1:11″ twist and ends in Springfield’s small proprietary muzzle brake, which helps tame recoil and muzzle rise from the 7.62x51mm round. For sights, an XS post with a tritium insert up front pairs with a large .135″ ghost ring aperture at the rear that adjusts in MOA for elevation and lateral correction, so the rifle stays fast on target in dim light.
Want an optic? The forward scout-style Picatinny rail is made for compact CQB red dots and long eye relief scopes. The two-stage National Match tuned trigger breaks clean, and the black composite stock keeps the classic M1A lines while standing up to weather and rough handling.
